What We Were Solving
How We Built It
We designed and built a completely custom website from scratch. No WordPress templates, no page builders. The site was structured around their five core service areas: alternative lifting solutions, crane hire, engineering services, BESS installation, and transport and logistics. We created dedicated sections for each industry they serve, so a mining company visiting the site sees relevant experience immediately. The design is clean and industrial, matching the weight of the work ALS does. We built it fast, mobile-first, and with a content structure that their team can update without needing a developer. What We Built
ALS International is not a small operation. They provide alternative lifting solutions, crane hire, engineering services, BESS installation, and transport and logistics across Australia. Their clients are in oil and gas, mining, and renewables. These are industries where credibility matters more than flashy design.
The previous website did not do the business justice. It was a dated template that loaded slowly, looked poor on mobile, and buried their core services behind generic content. When a mining company lands on your site, they need to know within five seconds that you can handle their project. The old site did not deliver that.
The Approach
We started with the content structure before touching any design work. ALS has five distinct service lines, and each one needed its own space. We also mapped out the three industries they serve because a client in renewables has different concerns than one in oil and gas, even if the services overlap.
The design is intentionally clean and industrial. Dark tones, strong typography, and real project imagery where possible. We avoided the trap of making an engineering website look like a tech startup. The visual language had to match the work: heavy, precise, reliable.
On the technical side, we built the site to load fast on mobile connections. A lot of ALS's potential clients are accessing the site from remote locations. If your site takes eight seconds to load on a 4G connection in regional Australia, you have already lost that enquiry.
Key Decisions
We pushed for dedicated industry pages rather than a single "industries we serve" dropdown. The reasoning was simple: when someone searches for "crane hire mining Australia" or "BESS installation renewables", they should land on a page that speaks directly to their sector. This also gives us a stronger SEO foundation to build on, which matters for the next phase of work we are doing with ALS.
We also built the site so their team can update content without needing to call us every time. Service descriptions, project highlights, and contact information are all manageable through a straightforward admin interface. We believe a good website is one the client can actually maintain.
The Result
The new ALS International website is fast, professional, and built around how their actual clients think. It is structured for both human visitors and search engines, and it gives ALS a digital presence that matches the quality of their physical operations.
We are now working with ALS on their SEO strategy, building on the content structure we put in place during the website build. That is the advantage of designing with search in mind from the start. You do not have to retrofit it later.
