Divi Builder, Client-Editable Site

Divi Builder Project

Their previous agency charged for every text change. We built a Divi site they can update themselves, and they have not needed us since.

A manufacturing company was paying R500 per change to their previous web agency. Not because the agency was gouging them. Because the site was built in a way that required developer access to update anything, including changing a price on a product page.

This is a common outcome when a site is built for the developer's convenience rather than the client's operation. The client ends up dependent. Every small update goes through the agency. Every update costs money and takes time. The site falls behind reality.

We rebuilt the site in WordPress with a Divi child theme built specifically for client-editability. Every editable section is clearly labelled in the builder with plain-English names. Product entries use custom fields, not shortcodes. Pricing tables are simple text blocks. Images swap out through the media library.

No custom admin panels, no bespoke systems, no training on proprietary tools. Standard WordPress, used as it was designed to be used.

We ran a two-hour training session with the office manager. Standard WordPress admin, how the Divi sections map to the live page, how to handle images, and what not to touch without calling us first. We recorded the session and gave them the recording.

Six months after launch: they had updated pricing twice, added three new products to the catalogue, added two new team members with photos and bios, and changed the homepage headline. All without contacting us.

That is the correct outcome. A website that requires its owner to call a developer for every update is not a functional asset. It is a liability. When clients need us, we want to be there for real work. Not for changing a price.
